Power Inverter - So what exactly is an inverter? An Inverter is an electronic piece of equipment that when connected to a 12 volt supply ( IE Car Battery ) it will convert it to 240 volts of alternating current.

This enables you to run ordinary mains appliances such as a TV, Computer, Playstation, Xbox, DVD player, Power tools etc from a 12 volt car battery. Inverters are obviously extremely useful to caravan, motor home, boat owners, and the like. They also have many uses to the ordinary homeowner as (among other things) they can be used to run central heating pumps, lighting, tropical fish aquariums, televisions etc. during power cuts (i.e. standby power).

Inverters can also be used to operate mains equipment out of doors, and away from a mains supply. Inverters are so useful that it really is a case of "Every Home Should Have One" (and every business !).
